Human Resources Issues Taskforce

Charter:

The APA HR Taskforce will be a conduit for the APA membership to identify issues of interest with regard to Human Resource operations and policy. The APA HR Taskforce will serve as an advisor to and partner with Human Resources in the proposal, review, implementation, and operation of solutions for these issues. Similarly, we will advise Human Resources as they bring forward other changes to operations and policies with regard to APA membership concerns and suggestions.

Action plan:

The APA HR Taskforce will initially meet bi-weekly. We expect to query the membership and produce an initial report of issues. On a monthly basis, we expect to produce a report of issues as well as current and on-going resolutions. We will also regularly include in our communications a "helpful hint" for working within the HR operations and policies.

Initial request for information:

Please identify an opportunity you see to enhance Human Resources policy or operations. Send your suggestions and possible solutions to the HR Taskforce Chair (cschoaf@ufl.edu or 215-0351).

Examples:

  1. The notice of non-reappointment process requires clarification. Guidelines are needed to distinguish between a non-reappointment for disciplinary reasons and non-reappointment with out prejudice. Perhaps a workshop or discussion forum would facilitate the exploration and documentation of the ambiguous circumstances.
  2. The hr.ufl.edu website is not printer friendly. Grey type is hard to read and the text runs off the margin of the printed page. Would it be possible to set the text color to black and wrap the text to a reasonable width?
  3. Student Employment, Academic Personnel and Central Employment procedures are inconsistent and not well integrated. For example, hiring a student requires original documents Hby Student Employment even though Central Employment may have original documents on file already.
  4. UF needs a high-traffic, easily accessible clearing house for information on all campus-wide training opportunities or offerings. Would it be possible to provide a link on the hr.ufl.edu website to an "Other UF Training" page similar to the one in my.ufl > My Self Service > "Other UF Training?"
