APA Presents: Insight Panel on Health, Exercise and Movement Featuring a panel presentation and optional free Group Fitness class for UF employees Southwest Recreation Center Wed., December 17, 2014

Join the Academic and Professional Assembly (APA) on December 17 for a focus on movement and exercise benefits for UF staff. Our panel will present a range of perspectives, including UF’s Dance for Life program targeting community members with Parkinson’s Disease.  Learn how movement and exercise has reduced symptoms of movement disorders and about exciting research collaborations on our campus between dance and health science. Learn about trends in campus health and how the team at UF RecSports addresses strategic health concerns including stress, anxiety, mental health and student retention, as well as specific services available for UF faculty and staff.  Finally, learn about campus resources available through the UF-UF Health Shands Wellness Committee, Gator Care and departments across campus.  From ergonomics to ‘deskercize’, are you taking advantage of the services available to you as an employee at UF?

Agenda:

2:30 p.m. – Pilates Group Fitness class led by Darcie Burde, UF RecSports (45 min.) Free for UF staff and faculty.  RSVP required and space is limited to 30 participants. Please wear comfortable athletic clothes. Mats are provided.

3:30 p.m. – Panel Discussion on Health, Exercise and Movement Jill Sonke, UF Center for Arts in Medicine (Dance for Life program for Parksinson’s Disease) Darcie Burde, UF RecSports Assistant Director for Fitness Morgan Papworth, GatorCare Wellness Coordinator
